Looking for advice on Explorer XS cam lock repair

Hi Guys,

Long time forum member, just have not posted much in the past couple of years. I need some help, I just picked up an Explorer XS that has the cam lock issue on the housing. When the rod is attached to the housing and the cam lock is closed, you can see the cracks real clear. It will clamp down on the rod ok, but I know it is a matter of time before it goes south, anybody have any mod ideas on a fix. I would like to fix it, because this is the hottest XS I have ever seen, and will be a real bloodhound on silver.

I know Minelab used to repair using different material. I would give Minelab a call and see what they say.
Imagine yours is the first run 99 model and this was a major problem. Indeed the Explorer XS was as deep or deeper than the models that followed but understand Minelab will not work on them internally but perhaps could put on the newest version with stronger material. Never heard of any home fix on this problem but perhaps another forum member can add input.

Can you post a pic of it?? My best guess would be to try and epoxy it, use that 5 minute epoxy...works wonders.

Thanks for the info, I will try to post some pics later this week, right now the boss is cracking the whip and I have to put my back into rowing the boat. Man 5 more years to retirement.
