I gave a co workers grandson some coins I found metal deceting and he wants to try his own machine. Grandma is wanting to buy two machines so both of them can go out together. She is looking at the BH junior. I do not know anything about these it looks like they go for around sixty dollars new can they make deceting fun or disappoint a child? Suggestions?

I haven't tried the Bounty Hunter Junior, however for the same price or a little more bounty hunter makes machines with more features (you might try the tracker II, vlf, or even the fast tracker models). It depends on how old the child is... if they're older (maybe 8+ yrs.), you could try one of the machines mentioned... they'd be good especially if you want one for an adult to use along with the child. One things for sure: any of these detectors will find things and make detecting fun for a kid.

Hey detectin4fun, I bought 2 BH jrs for my son and daughter and they work well. My daughter pulled out a penny from about 4 inches down in a park all by herself. I even use it at the train station I pick my wife up at because my ace250 does nothing but holler because of interference from power lines. They are ok by me. Tell your friend they are a good machine for kids who are just starting out and may go out once or twice and decide it's not for them. Then she won't waste a lot of cash. Just my thoughts.

I searched all around and couldn't find a Decetor metal detector. I think they went belly up. If you get a real cheap unit it might only discourge your child. I believe a good choice for you would be a B.H. Tracker IV. You can sometimes find them on E-bay quite reasonable......you could both have fun with it.
Good luck...........:drinking:
