I have an opportunity to get a new 505 xterra...........

What are the pro's and con's of this machine.

Depth,
Coin hunting abilities
Id stability

anything someone experienced can tell me about the 505 would be very helpful in my decision..

Great machine but for the price of a new 505, you could buy a clean used 705.

I think they are just as deep as the 705. But I have never used the 505. I used to have the 50 and now I have the 70. They are about the same depth. I'm sure Mark on here will give you the pros and cons as he does really well with his. He finds the good old coins.

He sent me a PM asking me about the x505 before he posted this topic and I told him what I thought of it and it was all pretty much good so I didn't reply to this post.

About the only real useable difference is the tracking on the 705 vs none on the 505. I never did use the backlight or the GB offset on the 705. If you can buy it right, get it.
