I had a website that you could go to and type in the caret of gold and the wt and it would calculate the scrap value of your gold , Somehow I lost it. anyone know of a site?

http://dendritics.com/scales/metal-calc.asp

Thanks Pete.
That's the web site i needed. A lady at work wants to know how much for some of my rings.

Are you going to charge more than scrap???

Yes I am .I am going to charge about 30- 50 % over .I think thats fair. It all depends on what the ring looks like.
I figure i have to take in to account the gas I spend and the batteries I use. There is some expense to consider.
What's your opinion on this Mike?

That's a better deal than I got at the jeweler who bought some of my gold rings...the price of transportation and even batteries was not a consideration as far as he was concerned. I think your offer is reasonable.

Took the rings to work and showed them to her and she was all smiles with the price I stated.
1- 14 K 9.5 grams Nugget ring for $170.00 that's $40.00 over scrap
1- 14K 1.5 grams w small blue stone $ 30.00 that's $10.00 over scrap
I think I was fair and she is happy.
