Looking for some advice/suggestions

I have ventured somewhat out of my own back yard. I have gone to my uncle's backyard which was my grandparents for quite some time and for many years. This would be the site where my mom lost the ring she is wanting me to find. No luck with that yet so far a key and a token that says Florida Pool Products. Where I'm needing some suggestions is here. I have read the comments suggestion the tot lots. Around here I know of one place like that but do you normally have to have permission for these places. This one is kinda run down and has maybe 2 picnic tables and a swing set. I rarely hear of anyone going there anymore so not sure who I would contact if I did need permission. All of our schools have fences around there playground. So now that I'm looking to venture I'm really unsure of where to go and which type of place I have to have permission to metal detect on. I did stop by the state park down the road from the house to ask and they said No MD"ing allowed. So I guess I just need some enlighting on this. I have also read suggestions of old church sites.

Thanks everyone!

Generally if it is public property it is ok, unless there are signs stating so. You will find that when you get permission on private places they can certainly be very rewarding. The public sites can be good, however they get hit by many other people too. As for the ring, dig every signal!

The info is helpful. We were digging everything we heard a beep on in the yard. Problem was the grass was taller and we became covered in mosquitoes. So soon as it cools off a little bit we will really get serious in this spot. Also the ground around this spot is so hard to dig. I still own a small lot right beside this one and it is old home site. Those old houses have been gone at least 35 years so I'm looking forward to seeing what I can find there.
Thanks again

Wendy - When you go to ask permission to detect ask "Do you have any laws against detecting" ? Otherwise they can easily say no. Our county doesn't allow detecting but the city does. Steve in so az

Hi Wendy,

Just don't be afraid to ask....places will open up gradually as you continue detecting! Sounds as though you need rain to moisten the soil, which will give you better signals while detecting and easier digging, too! Prayers for rain but not too much!! :) Mike and Steve have given you good advice and hope you find the ring and many, many other goodies! Keep the faith and keep on :detecting: by seeking and finding God will bless you mightily!

God Bless!
Betty
