Loss of Signal on F5

Most times I don't even use the pinpoint button with the F5, I just X the target. But sometimes when I do use the the pinpoint feature while in disc mode, I have a good repeatable signal, and when I press the pinpoint button I lose the signal completely. The end result is I end up Xing the target. What causes this?

That usually happens when you inadvertantly push the PP button while over an adjacent metal target (or too close to the original large target). When that happens, just go out to the opposite side of the target, press your PP and then pass over the target again. Also, when this happens, it confirms there is a potentially masking adjacent target which when you know that, it can help in your final decision to dig or not. Another possibility is that you are just hearing a false tone off of a ferrous target in which case the good tone isn't over the actual object and you can confirm that by doing what I previously mentioned from multiple directions.

Thanks for the reply Buckeye. Everytime I have experienced this I ended up digging a good target(usually a coin or small jewelry). After recovering the target there were no secondary target signals

That happens to me sometimes, too.
I just move off target and try again. Usually works perfect after that.
