Lots of pinpointing trouble.....Guess I need your expertise on this one guys...

This has the best pinpoint of anything I've used so far. I've been able to tell when a coin is tilted and which way its tilted by the pinpoint audio. One thing that does make a difference is that its calibrated for coin size targets, so smaller targets will appear deeper than they are and larger targets visaversa.

If you detune the depth reading will be off. I often use the depth reading to help pinpoint, looking for the shallowest reading to tell me when I am closed to being centered, then pull the trigger again to detune to a very small spot, sometimes detuning more than once. I'm not too concerned with the depth reading as I can tell by how long the detection field is as to approximately how deep the target is.

A coin on edge can put your pinpoint off sometimes. Sometimes the on edge coins will pinpoint right on, and other times I'll find then off to the side. Has to do with which way I sweep over them.

As I have previously mentioned, for shallow targets, I do the DD wiggle or the DD stab to pinpoint those items.

Well, looker here. I managed to write a bit after all

:detecting:

Okay I've done all the comparision for the T2 and the GTI 2500. They are 2 separate detectors and both are good ones. They are not equal by no means. But I'll save that for a time when I know what I'm talking about!

Could you guys give me the ins & outs of pin pointing with this T2.

At times she's right on the money. And other times she's off by 3-5 inches.

Depth detection is similar. But never has been right on the money....

The GTI if it says 4 inches...you bury your shovel 4 inches and there it is.

T2 says 4 inches...and I've found it it anywhere from one inch to six inches? Now I know it's not the detector...What am I doing wrong here guys? Help me out.

Could you share your pinpointing tehniques.

Thanks KCK

Although I am not the greatest pinpointer in the world. I find if you don't get a good ground balance that will cause it to be off. On pinpoint and depth reading. And of course if your not right over the target then your depth will be off. I think it is just practise but I am a field hunter so dead on pinpointing is not a priority.

The T2's coil is the DD type. DD coils will register a target anywhere along that central strip that runs front-to-back in the center of the coil.

Try this: First pinpoint as usual. Then imagine your target lies somewhere along that center line of the coil. Then turn the coil 90 degrees and pinpoint again to find where along that line the target lies.

After a while you'll find you only need to do this on the shallower targets.

Turn down your pinpoint sensitivity and see if that helps some.

I will try that tomorrow.

Tonight... I hunted the same area I did yesterday. And today I found more money. I have hunted the same graound for about 6 times now. Exact area....And it has produced about a dollar a night!

Hope you have a good time hunting as well! And thanks for the advice I will try it tomorrow!

Maybe Sunday afternoon after the laundry is done I may get out some with the CoinStrike and look for some deepies. The grass is nice and tall and they've been watering, so who knows????
