Love my XP Daus

My name is Joe . I'm new to the forum game. I'm a retired Sheriff and have alot of time to work on my detecting skills. I've been detecting for over 15 yrs. I'm like most and have used many brands of detectors. About a year ago I finally bought an XP Daus. WOW! What a detector. It's as complicated or as simple as you want to make. Once you get use to the sounds, a few adjustments and believe in what it's telling you. It's AWESOME! "I hope I'm not alone but I think I'm addicted to it". Hopping the forum will expand my knowledge of the Daus even more.

I would like to hear from other US coin shooters to see how my settings compare? I know each area is different but I would really appreciate hearing from anyone with some good US coin settings. Especially those that work well in or around can slaw?

Hi Joe
I use Deus fast a lot works well here on coins..

I am also a coin shooter. Have been detecting since 1971 and have gone through many detectors. I have gone from relic/coin hunting to only coin hunting due to age and physical ability. I purchased my Deus from a friend about 1 1/2 years ago. I have upgraded to the X35 9" round coil and really am liking it. As far as settings for coin hunting goes, in my opinion, to each his own. We each have our wants and needs in how, where and what we are hunting, as far as coins go and the types of ground and the number of junk targets in the ground all have an effect on how we will set up our Deus. Ant that is the wonderful thing about the Deus. The settings are almost infinite! It is wonderful. All I can say is after you hunt with it for 20 or 30 hours and read everything you can and watch all the videos you can find, you will devise your own program that will suit your needs. Make yourself a test garden and experiment with settings. You will discover which settings make a difference on how hard a coin hits and how deep the Deus will sniff them out. If you want a chatty Deus or a quiet one. For me, I set my disc low, notch up to nickels and from just above nickels up and including copper pennies. And yes, I know my settings can keep me from the gold, but there is too much aluminum scraps to deal with. I adjust my tone breaks and KHz tones for comfort to my ears. Yes, I only dig nickels, copper pennies, dimes, quarters and up but I hunt super trashy parks. My parks are newer and no one digs old coins because they just are not here. I can not hunt for long periods of time and my settings allow me to stay in the field longer and allow the Deus to pick out the good targets among the tons of trash. If I were to detect an older park, I would adjust the settings to get a bit deeper or if I were to go and detect relics, then totally different settings for sure. This is the beauty of the Deus. I love mine!

Joe welcome to Find's Treasure Forum, some of the best treasure hunter's in the world are here to help. Joe I have less experience than you with the Deus and looking forward to hunting my worn out sites. Just got Andy's book yesterday, very nice book answers a lot of questions. Only time I have on the Deus is through my coin garden, very impressed. I'm a Sovereign hunter and will continue to hunt with this detector, LOL The Minelab Sovereign Moderator isn't jumping ship. Lots of user enthusiasm for the Deus and glad to be part of it. Happy Hunting

I have been using the XP Deus for 10 years & and its served me well even finding one of the worlds rarest coins.

Last year I won a Nox last year and passed it on as Iam at one with my Deus.

Have fun with your XP Deus it will not let you down.

Happy Hunting,

Jerry.

Welcome to the forum Joe.

Thanks guys, and I ordered the book. And James I can relate, between the Marines and my Law Enforcement career my body is pretty much wore out. But I get out every chance I get which is about every day. I live in southern Illinois on the Wabash river. I think being able to correspond will be a big help. Thanks again

The Deus is a fantastic machine to say the least !
Light weight, wireless, has very fast processor and free upgrades all in one machine !
