I am also a coin shooter. Have been detecting since 1971 and have gone through many detectors. I have gone from relic/coin hunting to only coin hunting due to age and physical ability. I purchased my Deus from a friend about 1 1/2 years ago. I have upgraded to the X35 9" round coil and really am liking it. As far as settings for coin hunting goes, in my opinion, to each his own. We each have our wants and needs in how, where and what we are hunting, as far as coins go and the types of ground and the number of junk targets in the ground all have an effect on how we will set up our Deus. Ant that is the wonderful thing about the Deus. The settings are almost infinite! It is wonderful. All I can say is after you hunt with it for 20 or 30 hours and read everything you can and watch all the videos you can find, you will devise your own program that will suit your needs. Make yourself a test garden and experiment with settings. You will discover which settings make a difference on how hard a coin hits and how deep the Deus will sniff them out. If you want a chatty Deus or a quiet one. For me, I set my disc low, notch up to nickels and from just above nickels up and including copper pennies. And yes, I know my settings can keep me from the gold, but there is too much aluminum scraps to deal with. I adjust my tone breaks and KHz tones for comfort to my ears. Yes, I only dig nickels, copper pennies, dimes, quarters and up but I hunt super trashy parks. My parks are newer and no one digs old coins because they just are not here. I can not hunt for long periods of time and my settings allow me to stay in the field longer and allow the Deus to pick out the good targets among the tons of trash. If I were to detect an older park, I would adjust the settings to get a bit deeper or if I were to go and detect relics, then totally different settings for sure. This is the beauty of the Deus. I love mine!
