Low Battey Observation

i know this is going to sound like a dumb , but has anyone else had questionable results with the MXT with a "medium" charged batteries?
recently, i noticed that when my batteries get down to about 10 volts, it seems like targets start to fade out a bit
its kind of hard to explain, but ill try
when i hit a target, ill get a good strong beep, but with every sucessive sweep, the target seems to fade out. i was thinking that maybe the MXT auto ground was trying to track the item out, but it seems to only do this when the voltage drops a bit.
one thing though, could it be the TYPE of batteries?.....recently, i got a heck of a deal on AA's, a 36 pack of el-cheapo generics for 2.99 . is it possible that these batteries have the correct volts, but have low amps, and when a target is detected, and the speaker sounds off, that the detectors pulling too much extra juice?........
ive been detecting for 30 years, and it seems like this is the only detector ive had that has done this

I recently was detecting with my MXT on a cold day when my batteries were just about done for. It seemed like I was experiencing some of what you described. Increasing my gain seemed to help things until I could get to my new batteries.
I'm curious what other folks have experienced.

I had the same problem the other day. I'm using RayoVac Maximum Plus (Alkaline) batteries. I noticed the signals felt like they were fading between sweeps. I turned the unit off and back on to check the voltage. It was at 10. It was only about 45 degrees out but getting dark so I quit for the day. The next morning, I turned the unit back on and it stated that voltage was 11. I then pulled the battery pack and tested with a volt meter: 11.20 volts. Perhaps the temperature does have some effect. ????

The Mxt don't like to get cold !!! What your explain I have had happen also, Changed batteries and it did not help, it just acts strange when the temps are low. With mine it seemed like it got like this if the temp got down in the 40's or lower. I have used baterries in the summer til the machine quit, Once looked for over an hour showing low battery. The only time it see a change is when it gets cold, Perhaps a not so cold natured machine ?? I have a cheap little bounty hunter that works with snow on the ground, frozen ground and tepms honestly to cold to be out there but it works, tried the mxt in the same conditions and it just acts strange. Welp thats my two old corroded zincs worth.

Cold weather does effect the batteries. But please don't use generic batteries in your MXT. Save them for the Christmas toys. I would cry if my batteries leaked inside my machine.

Just put in a brand new set of Energizers and left the detector in his car when not using it. He had around 4 hours on the batteries and it quite, so he check the batteries only to see the pack was wet and the inside of the control box all corroded. Checked the voltage on all the cells and they all were 3/4 good, but one did leak and made a mess in his MXT.
Energizer had him send the detector to them as they say they may repair it or replace it, now to see if they will or not.
I dont know what happend, but do know even a top brand will leak and we will see how they stand behind their batteries.
