lowering coil capacitance

Eric or anyone,
I build a pretty good coil using insulated twisted pair wire and aluminum foil for shielding. I run a straight coax from one end to the other. Any suggestions how to lower the capacitance further? My goal is to reach 10-15 usec delay. Joe

The other thing to try is to lower the inductance.

Hi Joe,
Simply use less turns. As inductance is proportional to T squared, a couple of turns less can make quite a difference. This will enable you to sample earlier where the signal is stronger and can result in more range than with the original number of turns.
