Lowrance Ifinder Hunt

Hello, I am going to purchase a gps unit soon, and have read allot of the posts here. Lots of info, and thanks for all the responses. It helps in making a decision. My question- is the hunt worth the few extra bucks to get the electronic compass? Does anyone have any experience with the ifinder hunt? I am a hunter, and also an avid detectorist, so i would be using it for multiple purposes. Any two cents worth would be greatly appreciated. thanks, ben

The electronic compass in Hunt is not as accurate as an old fashioned magnetic one. Saying that, when the unit is held level (VERY important), the compass is accurate enough to get you going in right direction. With a bit of practice, the build in compass will take care of most needs but... electronics may fail, batteries may run down and than you reach into the pocket for an old dependable compass and it will keep on ticking :))
