Doesn't show up too well but this is a 1997 proof quarter I found in a bark chip playground.

Hey Bill, Just wanted to tell you that the method of pinpointing with the eliptical coil you suggested was right on. It would have taken me awhile to figure that out. Now if I could just get this 1350 to stop squawking at me <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> I kinda miss the two simple tones of the 550

Didn't you say in a previous test (?years ago) with the 15 or 2500 that they just love quarters. I think you also found some in the bark chips by a playground in that article too.

Makes you wonder how a proof coin with a Dcam finish would get into circulation and be lost at a playground. I guess a kid could have grabbed it from a parent's coin collection and then lost it, but who would keep a proof coin loose and not in a 2x2, in that case?

I don't know but you know how kids are with "show and tell'" I've found other valuable coins that kids had pilfered from their parent's coin collections, brought to school and lost in the playground.

If the 1350 is squawking too much try lowering the sensitivity down to about 6.5 or so. The profiling feature is sensitivity sensitive and keep the coil off the ground an inch or so while scanning. Glad the pinpointing worked out. It's quite accurate when you get it down. How is the profiling working for you? Good luck

Bill the profiling is great. I am really impressed with this 1350. I went out again this morning (by myself this time) and was able to really concentrate on learning how it operated. The "squaking" I had complained about yesterday was just a new operator not understanding the machine well enough. I found several nickles I had missed with the 550 even while using the super sniper coil. Not because of depth but I think because of better discrimination. I wanted to test the profiling so I dug every target...It was always correct on the size it indicated for each target. I am about as amature as they come but for what its worth I think this 1350 is a great machine!!!

Yeah it ain't bad. Glad you're enjoying it. Gets better with practice.
Bill
