M6 at the beach ???

Tony

Member
I really like the overall package of the M6 but a common (???) issue seems to be average performance at the beach....I'm assuming this is the wet sand and not the dry stuff. Could people be engaging the Beach mode when it's not necessary ?

I would appreciate any views from M6 users.

Thank you,
Tony.

I do not know how others have faired, but I feel that the M6 is as good as any single frequency machine that would be used on the beach. I have only had it to the beach about 5 times but, I find that with the 6X10 DD coil I have no problems and it runs real stable. My deepest find on the beach to date with the M6 is a silver ring that was down about 14 inches, all of my other finds have been 10 inches or less. It is no Sov or CZ and if I was buying a machine to be mainly used at the beach I would look at a multi frequency before the M6. But if beach hunting is only secondary I think that the M6 is about the best bang for the buck that you can get in a detector today. HH

I have both the M6 and the DFX... I love my M6 but for the beach including dry and wet sand ...the DFX is best for me..

I think you are right Tony, here is what Greg Moscini answer to one of my posts.

As far as the Beach (M6) or Salt (MXT)... on West Coast Beaches which have negative black sand, its best to use the Ground Tracking. Salt (beach) can cause a miss on some gold chains etc depending on levels of mineralization, discrimination settings etc.
