Made a quest for

Mike Chgo area

Well-known member
oldies this morning. Got 1 1945 wheatie. I did get to spend some time filling holes left open by others. Dupage county does not permit metal detecting in the forest preserves in their county. If people do not start making the area look undisturbed after digging a target we will be loosing more areas to detect. Please cover your tracks. I know most of us do but tell others also. Almost forgot the 50ft piece of copper wire I pulled out of the ground. The old heavy kind which I coiled up and brought home. Copper is close to 4.00 a LB. Save copper, sell it, and buy gas. :)

1945 "wheatie"...nice find...can we see a pic of it, please?

I'd like to see how these look from the dirt as opposed to the salt water....

I always save all copper and brass. Never got one that big! Good job. Thanks for filling the holes!

I had started collecting all the copper, brass, etc when I started. Could cash in for a lot now. Steve in so az

Congrats on the wheatie and the copper! I've been saving most of the metal I've dug up unless it was a rusty can or big rusty iron and I should be able to get some $ for it now!

Stay safe and keep hunting and finding the goodies! Yes, if people don't quit leaving holes and big messes or their trash out of the ground by the hole they dig, then there will be no places to hunt and they are talking even about your own yards being prohibited! How they can do that, I don't know.....but I believe we are becoming a Gestapo country and are being forced into being a third world nation! Come quickly, Lord Jesus! Amen!!

I know what you mean Mike... I've seen guys with shovels that dig craters, no ground cloth... after they're done even if they've covered some holes, it still looks bad.

Nice of you to fill those holes. Once I was refused permission to hunt an old school because someone left their holes uncovered but I showed the caretaker how I dug a plug and replaced it and he gave me permission to hunt anyway.

I bet that copper wire you found is worth more than any one coin I've found!!!
