Sr and I headed down to Kentucky to visit Charlie and Bev. We hit a park the next morning before meeting up with Charlie. This is the park we hunted in between the rains.

It started to rain really hard so we left and went back to the motel to change and look for a place to eat dinner. I laughed when I saw this add in the phone book. Ray when did you open the restaurant? :clapping:

We went to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. Picked up some bats for the kids and a big coffee mug for my wife(insert brownie points here) After that we hit a buffet and oinked out  .

The next day we met up with Charlie and hit a field. Found a couple bullets, buttons and some other misc stuff. I didn't get a picture of it all but here's a couple shots.

We then went to Becky's house where we have hunted before and I managed to get a musket ball, and of course I forgot to get a picture  but I did get one of Sr and Charlie(insert photoshop icon here).

After that we went to Charlie and Bev's. Bev had an awesome dinner ready as usual. That was a great dinner Bev! Man I love her cookin'!
We sat around shootin' the bull and got talking about the Casino boat down the road. I didn't know it was there so Sr and I checked it out on the way back to the motel. As Elson would say "I lost my Donkey" but it was still fun. Sr won some money but eventually gave it back to the casino. Here's where the trip gets interesting. When we got into Sr's truck to leave the casino I went to pull out and the power steering went out! We checked the fluid and it was full. The pump just plain give out. I drove it back to the motel(ever try steering a full size Dodge 4x4 without power steering?) We discussed our options and decided to drive back with no power steering. We left at 6:00am and headed north. Just before we hit Indianapolis Indiana we hit a snow storm and the roads turned to ice. There were at least 50 vehicles in the median over a few mile stretch. I put it in four wheel drive which made it even harder to steer but we managed to make it. Sr was in the passengers seat digging his toe nails into the floor board the whole way. He was a little nervous  I was driving like Steve McQueen :clapping: We hit another little storm after the first one and of course the top speed on the highway was 5mph!!!!! It took a long time to get back. So after I post this I'm gonna head over to Sr's and change his pump on his truck. All in all we had a great time as usual. Thanks Charlie and Bev! We'll do it agian  I didn't get a chance to shoot video footage. I wanted to but kept forgetting the video camera.

When I first got my Explorer and was new to it Ray got me over a wheatie that was pretty shallow at 11 inches. It was a clear signal both ways. He told me what the coin was gonna be and he was right. The ground we were hunting in when he found the wheat had been moved around at one point in time. It was a clay type soil. Not many coins get over 9 inches unless the ground has been messed with or if the soil is sandy. The scary part is when Ray dug that wheat he was at 18 on his sensitivity and you can run it up to 32. The machine has the power to go extremely deep but ya just don't need it in most cases. They are all good machines and it all depends on the person swinging it. Ya gotta know your machine.

.... preparing to give you or SR a proctol examanation?

When I see a look like that on someone's face and they are pulling on latex gloves ...... it's time to run ... as far and as fast as you can.

Of course, it's always someone elses problem in the end.
