Made my OLDEST find!

This is the result of nearly 6 hours metal detecting at a spot where I have found a few civil war relics (mostly bullets) in the past.

I was ecstatic when I dug up the silver dime (I was expecting a modern dime). It was about 4 inches deep and is now my oldest find. It beats my last oldest coin find by 3 years and is in MUCH better condition (the olther one was worn so thin that you could barely make out the date on it or tell what kind of coin it was).

THIS is what it is all about for me. THIS is what I am after. The thrill & accomplishment of the next best find. I dont dare hope to find an older silver coin.

Also in the pic is a small caliber civil war bullet (I have yet to ID).... it has a solid bottom. ANd what I suspect is a civil war "bite bullet".

The kennedy-engraved penny is a novelty item I have seen sold in novelty catalogs (some have lincoln smoking a pipe or cigar) .... I remember finding one (kennedy head)in my mom's coin purse when I was a kid. I always wondered if I'd find one while detecting.

Note: if anyone has an idea on the ID of the small caliber civil war bullet.... please speak up. It has a solid base.

Nice stuff. I'll take them any day.

Update: I think I have ID'ed the bullet..... http://www.baymediapro.com/collection/bullet_details.asp?BID=495

Wont know exactly til I have measured the diameter.

edit: or it may be this... http://www.baymediapro.com/collection/bullet_details.asp?BID=479

btw... how does one edit posts here? I looked for an option & couldnt find it.
