Maiden Voyage Gold

Hi everyone,

Today I took my new machine out for its first hunt. I went to a school baseball/soccer field to get a feel for the different sounds and characteristics of this machine. I pretty much dug all repeatable sounds that weren't registering as iron just to associate targets with ID numbers and sounds--I was operating in full tones. Not a whole lot to show, but I did manage to stumble across this small 14k gold ring. My first impressions are that I really like its weight, speed (target separation), and to my surprise--the backphones. It is going to be a fun machine to learn and master.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your next hunt.

That's an excellent first day with the Deus--I'd say you're on the right track! As others have mentioned, it's a good idea to dig as much as you can tolerate to get a quicker feel for the machine. Also since this is your first exposure to the machine, your insight into the Deus settings, setup, configuration, etc., can lead to useful suggestions to XP. If you have any recommendations for improvement that you feel others can benefit from, in the form of software changes, consider posting your suggestions in the Proposed Updates thread.

It looks like the area you hunted was fairly trashy--that's good training, and it obviously paid off for you. After you spend a few outings in trashy areas, not only will you welcome a break from the noise in a quieter, less trashy area, but you'll discover how much easier it is to pluck the good stuff in that environment. Good luck!

Great job on the gold! You will find that coins and other roundish objects produce a "round sound" that screams "dig me!" moreso than aluminum trash, regardless of the VDI, regardless of operating frequency. Lower silencer settings will accentuate this "round sound", at the expense of a little iron bleed through - but in no time you'll be finding so many good targets within trash that you really won't mind digging the occasional junker...

Congrats on your new Deus! Fantastic maiden voyage BTW!

Listen NOBODY likes a show off!

I mean dang, first time out and score a gold ring????

LOL

Congrats, great find.
