Maiden Voyage with the New Pro Coil...

Erik in NJ

New member
There's a very interesting story behind the cut dime - all three pieces were found in different holes - found the last piece tonight as my last target! What a tiny little piece of silver and it hit pretty hard on the new coil - I even dropped it and had a darn hard time re-finding it. I typed up a lot of text and lost it (pleas fix the site software re accidental back) and I'm too tired to do it again tonight so I'll just post the group pic. I felt like I could have done a commercial for Minelab as the Large Cent was one of the first targets I dug with the new coil! Some cool relics and a handful of Wheat Cents too, but will have to wait for tomorrow. The green charm is cool and looks to be on the old side. Spent about 3 hrs on Sat and same on Sun getting to know the new coil - I like it!

Anyway, I'll post the story behind these various finds tomorrow and hopelly try and clean the LC and IH up a little too.

Now after seeing the Pro coil find all three pieces of that dime I am sold. Now Erik if I get $35. for each lawn I cut How many lawns is it going to take to buy the beast?? Or, tomorrow being my anniversary of 37 years I could get my wife that gold cross she wants and load her up with jumbo Margareta's and Viagra for me, then she will order the Pro coil for me. yea sure...only if the planets all line up.

Aloha the Pro SE coil is a winner for sure. I use to hunt with a sun ray 5 inch coil at parks because of the trash. I could not believe how well it separates the target and how light the coil is. It feels like the weight of the 8 inch stock coil. The first time I used it I must have said wow this coil is pretty good about 5 times during the day.

Arturo...our work schedules have increased and cut down on hunt time. I still say they are BOTH good coils after using his pro coil for about 10 hours. I am impressed with the pro coil...and he was impressed after using my SEF. We will do a more thorough comparison as soon as we get time. I am looking forward to comparing each other's signals some more when I have on the SEF and he has on the pro coil.

Hi Arturo! By my calculations you would need to cut only six lawns to buy yourself a Pro coil! Of course there would be a little left over for an anniversary gift for the wife! Btw, happy anniversary too - where r u located?

in Texas. You would think it would be a great place to detect, but during the time of the battle at the Alamo in San Antonio the town was not that large and to this present date the old town is under concrete and asphalt. All parks and open areas down town are prohibited sites, so I am left with newer parks outside of down town. I send alot of time on the road going to smaller towns to detect, but long ago i guess in Texas no one carried any money in there pocket except when they went to church.

Do you have any research as to where any of the subsequent battles were fought? You're right it does sound like a great area for old Spanish silver.
