Making a Shadow X-2 into a water machine....

Mike(NC)

New member
I have a Fisher 1280X, but would love to make my light weight Shadow X-2 with the Tesoro 10 1/2 inch concentric doughnut coil into a water machine. I have used it with great results in shallow water with a plastic bag and clips, ect to keep water splashing out. But I would like to actually encase it and be completely waterproof for shallow water hunting up to neck deep. Any suggestions on hardware needed, pictures from those who have done it, etc, etc Thanks in advance..Mike

Thanks. I'm hoping to keep the Shadow box as part of the package rather than to remove the electronics. Have a dual machine which will easily go back to a land machine. Maybe I can find a suitable size box. thanks again for the ideas...Mike

t the Under Water Kenetics Boxes, they are waterproof to 16' which I now use for my PI's.
The Plano in the above posting link leaked at the corners once the lid warped a tiny bit.
Plano's are not really meant to be submerged.

I believe the UK box number 406 (larger one I used) might just be big enough to hold a umax control box, they are about $15.00
Many Scuba Dive shops may carry them

Thanks Tim...Actually if they float along with me is fine. I have the longer coil wire to allow it. It could get in the way and aggravating once in awhile, but should do what I want out of it with little chance of leakage. How about 'plugging' the holes drilled in the plastic?? Thanks again...Mike
