I worked on an older property this weekend, will go back next week to finish it, I decided to put my ace 250 into jewelry mode and dig every beep. Well that pretty much only discriminates iron so I did dig a TON of trash, but at least I did not leave the gold behind...lol, I want to dig some gold so bad, but all I get is JUNK!!!!

only good finds so far are a 1928 wheat and a 1943 Mecury dime.

I've only seen more trash from our friend in W. Va. That Merc is worth the effort in my book.

Hey there,

I saw your original post some evening last week on the post asking if anyone has found gold to please post it. I assume like you I run my Ace 250 in other modes than the Jewelry because I do not want to dig too much junk either. well this Friday my wife had to work, and I was able to go after work for only two hours. I was in coin mode because where I was the 250 was picking up all kinds of trash. but I kept remembering your post and the others post about having to dig up the garbage to get the gold. Look what I found.

It speaks truth - we have to dig up junk to get the gold.

its plated gold I assume, pretty old and dinged up but hey! if it is really plated gold then it is my first gold ever. I was in relic mode with the 250 and it gave me that nice gold sound

Last point, I take a little pouch with me that has a 14k ring in it and and Indian head, a wheatie and I try to train my ear with these targets before I start swinging.

Nice mercury dime!!

Trash and silver makes a good hunt. The fields I hunt will sound off about 200 to 300 pulltabs for every nickel dug. Ive dug 1 piece of gold in about 4 years of hunting. Ive had at least 3 dif people stop and tell me they lost gold jewelry in these fields. One was a cop who said he would pay me what ever my asking price was If I found his very expensive wedding band. I know Ive dug thousands of pulltabs in that field alone. It cant all be gravy or the fun would be gone and everybody would be detecting.

I'm with a whitster on this one. I think that dime was worth all the digging. I just love those dimes. HH Joe

I can hardly wait till next week to finish the yard! maybe there is more trash...........maybe more silver, who knows, maybe I'll score gold

Good luck.

You'll hit gold one of these days..Just keep at it..:detecting:

I know I am beating a dead horse to death but here goes again.I have found well over a hundred gold rings since I have been detecting. My hunting buddy has found over two hundred gold rings. Not trying to brag but just stating the fact. Most of my gold rings have been found in the last five years or so. About five years ago ,after detecting about twenty five years, I decided to specialize in trying to find gold rings. Mainly because my hunting budy had found so many. Now both he and I have been detecting a very long time. Him since the late sixties, me since 1978. Over the years I mainly coin hunted. Tried a little relic hunting but I never really knew what I found so I stuck with coin hunting.Finding very few gold rings. Then about five years ago I started looking mainly for gold rings. And a little clad hunting also.I found if you really want to find gold rings you must hunt places where gold rings are likely lost. Water hunting in swimming areas is the best. But my water hunting days are over as I have a medical device attached now and can not get it wet. So I began hunting areas marked off for swimming. Hunting on the beach. I don't live close to an ocean so I hunt freshwater beaches. I like grass as items get lost in the grass and are hard to find. I have found more on land now than in the water.People spread their blankets and put suntan lotiion on. Generally taking off their rings and laying them on the blanket and later maybe forget and shake the rings while shaking the blanket to go home. I like tot lots and volleyball courts and places where they throw freezbees...Did not mean to make it so long.....Jack

Here are some I have found. I have given away and sold quiet a few. My wifes jewelry collection has also improved in the last few years....Jack

Just went to a fresh water lake beach by my house. dug 50 pull tabs 'that wears one out!

Then to top it off after getting home I got stung by a wasp in the back yard. Darn thing hurts

1950 more pull tabs until I find that ring!

Sorry to hear that. How about tot lots and volleyball courts?......Jack
no volleyball, tot lots are on the 3 elementary school grounds and I hunt them regularly, no luck yet. I have never even found junk jewelry on the school tot lot. Mainly clad........

I live in a large metropolitan area and I seem to forget others may not have as many areas to hunt as I. Maybe the gold will come to you sooner or later. Good luck.....Jack
