My Dad and me went out on our 1st hunt of 2010 today.
We were hunting across the street from a park where a few kids were playing..... well, about an hr and a half into the hunt these kids on bikes road up next to the park on the other side of the street. I could hear them talking about and watching me so I pretty much figured out that they were eventually going to come over and ask what I had found. That didn't happen. Instead they rode away out of my view. About 5 minutes later I heard this weird sound and could hear their voices on the other side of the park. I figured they were playing with some type of toy. Well, they started to walk back into my view and that's when I saw what was making the noice. It was a metal detector!!! I watched for a view seconds as they tryed to find a target (not sure if they did). After about 20 minutes of them hunting across the street they came over and asked for my help on how to use their detector. It definitely wasn't a Garrett or any name brand for that matter. It was probably one of those cheap ones that you buy at walmart or radio shack. Anyway, I realized that I would be wasting my time trying to figure out their machine( which only made 1 signal for everything and had a little meter thing to tell you what it was) so I decided to find a target for them and let them dig it. The target ended up being a penny. After finding the penny they had to go. It was a pretty fun experience helping them find the penny.
Toady's hunt:
Dad: $3.18
Military Merit Medal
1945, 1947, 1956- D, and 1942-D Wheaties
Me: $2.16
Pistol Pete's Pizza Token( The irony of it is that the pizza place is located on Martin Luther King Blvd in Alachua, Florida)
2 locks
1957-D Wheaties

Good haul!
Congrats on the wheaties!
That is ironic, finding a token from MLK street on MLK day
Who knows
you might even wind up being a good mentor to someone. Thanks for sharing and thank you for representing our hobby in a positive light.
Happy Hunting!
