Many ?'s about F70 coils for coins.....

Any of you F70 guys ever used the 13" Ultimate DD coil and if so, how did it work for you? I had an F70 and made the mistake of trading it but have not found another detector that I enjoyed more and have just ordered a new F70. Do you like the 5" DD better than the 6" oval? How does the 11" DD compare to the stock coil?

Thanks in advance for any information on these coils.

OK, well, I pretty much use the 11"dd for coins and everything.. I have a 10, but rarely use it, though it did work well when i tried it out, and it would be better for wading since it does not have those big fins like the 11 has.....I dont have a 5" but the guys that do find all sorts of silver coins amidst the trash...The 11 allows me to really cover some ground in a gosh darn hurry, so for beaches, fields, totlots a fellow can hit the lane quickly, and slow down to work it right. It seems very balanced and not at all fatigueing like maybe a larger coil might be...

Thanks for the info. Mud. Will have to try a DD coil on the F-70, just have to figure out which one but plenty of time for that.

I'm missing the experience with the 6.5 elliptical coil on my F70. But not missing much. The 5" DD is a killer in trash and noisy environments. You can crank out the rig and get almost as much depth (in my experience) as with the 11" DD. Those are the top two. Yes, I've now used the 10" elliptical enough to relegate it to totlot hunts. Seems right at home there but it's outclassed by the DD coils in pretty much all other applications.

I've tried the Fisher 15" coil, no good on the F70. Maybe it's a power or filter issue, but it didn't do any better than the 11" DD coil. Mind you this was only one time usage with known targets so actual field results could vary wildly. Used the gigantic 12*15 butterfly coil and it was terrible on the F70. Loss of depth, target ID and pinpoint, Weaker than all the other coils I've used. I'd bet those giant coils could do the Lord's work on the F75, but the F70 must not have that low-end torque necessary to drive them.

When I was using the f70, i used the 11dd and it worked great. Also found it was interchangeable with the f75 series.- that was a plus. Recently I got some water in the 11 dd and had to use the concentric. I got to see what I was missing- maybe Im just used to the DD, but the concentric seemed somewhat more dull in seeking out targets. Fortunately the 11dd dried out, and is running again. I will keep it away from deeper water.- and am going to revisit the places I did the other day with concentric, and go over them with the double d CO

Lurksalot I use the 6.5" coil almost all the time. It does a good job on finding coins in trash, it is light, it is quiet, pin points dead on and still can cover a fair amount of ground with it. Even running sens@60-70 I still get about 5" deep with it. HH ....Z

Thanks Zeekeys, and I see that coil comes with the lower rod. Sounds good.

The 11" DD might well be my next coil osgood, as I have ruled out the big 13" Ultimate.

Elgin Tim, the 5"DD sounds good and thanks for the large coil info. I'm starting to forget about the 13" ultimate coil. It's advertised for the F75 but not the F70.
