First is the agonizingly slow target response. Even if you're swinging just sorta fast you can skip over targets without even a peep. If you hear a faint blip as you scan go back and scan it real slow in short strokes. Best thing to do is just scan slow. Also if you get a weak, broken, scratchy signal it's most likely a corroded quarter as this is the way the MH responds to them. The ID will often show "quarter" but many times may not. Check these signals out or you may leave a lot of quarters behind. I get a lot of these signals as most of the quarters here that have been in the ground awhile are corroded beyond recognition. 95% of the quarters I have posted the past couple of days all gave a signal like that.

Interesting comment Bill.
I have a CX 111 and it is not fussed about how fast or slow it scans and respond very well to most targets.
I am wondering if other CX Plus operators have the same problem?

Mine's the old analog, but I'll check those weak, broken, scratchy signals and take it short and slow. Might get me some more quarters. Been a while since I took that old relic out for a spin. We'll see how she does. Thanks for the tip Uncle Willy.:)

Thanks for the reply. This is a great Forum.

I had thought about getting a CX Plus some time ago but opted for the CX III instead and I am pretty happy with it although it does not like our Aussie mineralization very much which causes the target ID to jump about a bit, so I have to run the sensitiivity down around the 5 to 7 range to get it to stabilise. It still seems to get good depth at those settings.

Yeah you can run low sensitivity on Garretts and still get good depth. Too bad Garrett doesn't have the mineral chip for the MH. You ought to contact them and see if it's possible to install one. Would solve your mineralization problem.

Thanks for that info, I did not know there was a different chip available, I will see what Ican find out.

And I found that for best results on target hits, I run the volume at full throttle! In true all metal mode, dig those whispers as those signals are modulated....the deeper the signal, the quieter the response. The ACE, GTP. GTI machines amplify the weak signals so as to make it easier to find them.
 
Yeah it's on and available for the GTI's and the GTP but don't know about the MH or if one could be installed.
