Maual vs Auto

If you were to turn the sens. down in manual to where it would find a coin at the same depth as you get in auto. Which would be the better setting to use and why?

Auto is hard to pin down as it rises& falls the sensitivity depending on the prevailing soil conditions, with a bias on slightly lower sensetivity to try & keep the machine stable.more depth in manual because you can push the sens to a higher given setting than auto for a given ground reading, but if you go over a mineralised patch of ground you are likely to get a bit of falsing in manual. Also,if you put in a low manual setting over very mineralised ground, auto may be better as it will automaticly raise the sens when youhit better conditions.
But in general more depth in manual,at the cost of the odd chirp or false signal.
