May be having a problem with ACE 250

Hi there, I would just like to know if anyone else's ACE 250 does the same thing: while I was doing some md i noticed every time i even lightly tapped it on the ground or bumped an object, it read silver $1. I then turned it over and while the coil was in the air I found I could lightly (I talking very lightly) tap the front of the coil and it would again register $1 at 8" deep, it does this in every mode starting at the third lowest (of eight) sensitivity level, I don't think this it normal is it?? Note, I was not wearing any jewelry to set it off, no watch no ring, I am confused, it never did this before today. I have only had since 8/7/2008
Thanks for any feedback.

My 250 will do it if i bump clumps of grass or small twigs when i try to run the sensitivity to high.

Try unhooking the coil cable from the control head, and then put it back on,
making sure it's pretty tight. "helps clean the connections"
Make sure the coil cable isn't flapping around. I run the cable straight up to
the first joint, keeping it pretty tight with the stock black tie wrap, and then
coil it normally the rest of the way. Seems to maybe reduce falsing a bit.
Take off the battery cover and rotate the batteries a bit to renew the connections.
Might try a reset, although I doubt if that is the problem.
If it still does it, might have to send it in to Garrett. It is normal to have some
falsing when tapping the coil, but it shouldn't do it with just a real light tap.
Mine falses a bit when using the 9x12 coil, if I hit something. I consider mine
pretty much normal.

Thanks guys for the tips, I ended up reseting it by turning it on and holding the power button and it seems to have done the trick.
Thanks

Yeah rebooting generally solves many of the problems. All Garretts work like this. Just remember you're working with a computer on the end of a stick.
