Maybe 1916 type 1 SLQ plus NJ Gold & Silver

Here's the latest nj loot! First I hit my local beach up the street, sanded in bad arrrgh! BUT I got the two silver chains knotted together in the dry sand on my way to the wet sand! Gave this beach an hour but nada but a few clad and square tabs.

So off to another local beach, same story sanded in. Hmmm decided to hit the edge of the surf and bingo gold ring right off the rip! Give the surf an hour and nada.

Plenty of low tide left so I decided to take a road trip back to the silver mine. Managed 3 silver quarters, two silver rings, 2 silver dimes, 1 silver earing, 1 silver rabbit, silver religious medal, piece of silver chain, and a silver thing-a-ma-bob.

Check that one silver quarter closely, there is no mint mark and no stars so that is a type 1 standing liberty quarter and its either a 1916 or a 1917 wow!

Oh and I got this 10k ring on a previous hunt, the stone is fake.

Very Nice Rings! And Congrat's with that Haul of Silver. The Standing Liberty Quarter is a Type 2. If you look closely, you can see the O in Dollar on the Bottom. Directly above it, there is a Star. Also what gives it away as a Type 2 is that the Type 1's Eagle is a lot closer to the Quarter Dollar Lettering. Even though it's a Type 2, it's still a Fantastic Find since the Standing Liberty Quarters are tough to find due to short run. Also, have you pulled any Dates off of the Quarters and Dimes? You know what, those stars are smaller than I remembered, on closer inspection you are correct there are three stars visible!

Plus the raised dates are almost always worn off..

:detecting: Hey Charles, It looks to me that like the sand down there hasn't been sifted very well in a long time. Good thing you went down there to help clean the beach this winter so by summer the swimmers should have pure sand again, Just like up here Aye. :crylol: Here are the two rings I found Thursday night.
