MD w/LCD on an Airplane: tip:stretcher:

Just read a post as to taking a MD along on an airplane and it reminded me of an experience I had with LCD's:

Tip: I once took a digital camera along in a suitcase in the cargo bay. The trip cracked the LCD on the back of the camera to where it was unusable. I've learned that the problem was caused due to very low air pressure and cold in the bay. LCD stands for LIQUID Crystal Display and liquid can freeze or crack the medium holding it in.

If your MD (or camera) has an LCD, good insurance is to take the MD box off and place in your carry-on bag where temp. and pressure is more normal. The rest can be placed in the cargo hold.

This may just save you some money and hair-pulling - LCD repairs are not cheap in any instrument!
