MDing in the fog

dobbie

New member
It has gotten very foggy here lately. it dosent burn off much at all. I was thinking if I would Md in the fog, how would that effect my machine? Would I have to take precautions due to the moisture in the fog? if so how would i do so? and would the cold effect my machine at all?

If the fog is so thick that moisture is collecting on things then you can simply put a plastic bag over it. Use some rubber bands or tape to secure it. As for the cold, no worries, I have detected below freezing! :)

If it is one of those really misty fogs just to be on the safe side you could cover the control box with a clear veggy bag from the supermarket or even Saran Wrap. Cold won't bother the machine. It may take a little longer to warm up. Hope this helps.

in the mornings dew is dripping from the leaves of the trees. but i figure i could buy some gloves for my hands. far as not being able to see much ahead of me, no worries i just have to see whats right in front of me.

Good luck, dobbie, detecting in the fog and don't run into something, someone or some big tree while looking at the ground in front of you! Hope you find something good and God Bless! Betty

You are welcome, dobbie! Laughter is good medicine for the soul! Keep faith in Jesus and keep on, keepin' on for Him! God Bless! Betty

I just put little plastic bags over everything. That press n seal wrap works pretty well too. As for cold, been at the beach in Feb with winds so strong I could barely swing my machine. Wind chills were in the minus teens (at least) :) Doesn't bother the machine none and I dress nice and toasty :)

I hunt in the rain, so I am sure fog is not gonna hurt your detector at all. I just wrap a plastic bag around my control box and go detect!
