Me and the 250 scored another ring and broke my year long silver coin curse big time by finding my favorite silver coin joined with another favorite p

Went back to the park where I found some nice rings awhile back and found another one out in a big open area where folks play with frisbees and toss footballs around. The ground was rock hard in spots and I just stuck my big scewdriver in the ground and leaned on it and the ring was my first silver find. Found two con spills. One was three quarters and a dime.

While scanning around and between the roots of a big oak tree I got a mixed signal of ring-a-dings and the display was bouncing from half to a dollar and back, so I stuck my big screwdriver in the dirt as far as I could and leaned on it. Out popped a rock hard clod and stuck in the clod was Miss Walking Liberty 1935 smiling at me. AS I admired the little beauty I remembered that mixed signal so scanned the hole again and got another ring-a-ding, ring-a-ding. Poked around in the hole and out jumped Miss Standing Liberty 1927. I couldn't contain myself and danced a little jig. A young fellow nearby hollered over, " Boy that must have been a spectacular find."

I replied," Yeah it really made my day."

Walking over to see what I had found I handed him the half and he remarked, " Damn, I ain't never seen one of these. What a beauty. To think we used to have real money like this."

I said, " Yeah not many young folks have ever seen one as they have been out of circulation for many decades and there weren't that many lost."

After ogling the coins a bit he of course inquired about getting a detector. I informed him that he need look no further than what was in my hand. It's been a year since I found my last silver coin so this was a banner day for me and will be tough to top for some time.

CONGRATS, Those are some great coins you found. What kind of a dance would you have done if the standing liberty was a 1916 ?:wiggle:

Yeah! That's great! Especially for a detector that has overrated depth, can't pinpoint worth a flip, can't ID correctly, calls trash coins and coins trash and drives people crazy. Oops. Sorry. I just got through reading some reviews.

It's OK, you can just come right out and say you are jealous. We are all grown adults here, there is no beating around the bush about it.

Great finds Bill. That is one banner day. Relish it.

Yeah I'm really surprised I found those puppies :) One fellow on another forum couldn't figure out how the 250 got mixed signals on the two coins because his DFX wouldn't do that. What can I say.

Bill.

You'd be surprised how many trees get missed. A few years ago, with the 2500, I found three Barbers in the same hole under a tree root. Had a helluva time digging them up. Some time ago I found close to $7.00 under one tree at a local school/park. Under and around trees are my favorite sites. I've found several rings in those areas.

Me too but I doubt it will happen again anytime soon. Just got lucky. Just shows that no place is ever completely hunted out.

It got me to go out a few minutes ago-got a bad signal here and there-funny how easy it is to figure'm out. One nickel did jump between foil and nickel-but when I "twitched" it, it locked on nickel. Four quarters, six nickels, 2 dimes and 2 pennies later, I'm home. And I still have my Ace.

It's the length of his posts. Great story, Great finds. Walking Liberty half dollar is my favorite US coin too, although all of our coinage is pretty nice. How many thousand silver coins now?

Like I said a few posts ago, I started out the year finding a ton of silver coins. Then I hit that first gold ring and started to concentrate on my gold sites. I've found one silver dime since the end of May.

The stuff I found today was all under and around trees where I find most of my stuff in certain parks. One tree had a nest of pennies under it and I got tired of digging them and moved on. John boy would have been in seventh heaven. :)
