Mega clad Stab N Grab!:detecting:

I went to hunt snowpiles today, but was disappointed with what they held, plus, they have not all melted yet! So I worked stragglers on a big sports field, then hit an area just loaded with clad and commenced to speed hunt and highgrade an area about the size of half a soccerfield...took me a while to find this spot, but once I did, I stayed in there and worked it hard!

Got 139 coins, one token, one 925 ring, (one of those tri-ring deals) a dollar coin, and a JFK half..for 19.37 very few nickels/zincs/copper pennies since I was highgrading gas money!

I run an F70 for this kind of work, and employ a 6" screwdriver to stab coin, ream out hole, and retrieve..A screwdriver is so fast for this kind of work, ping to pouch in 10 sec is the goal, no hole dug at all, good on targets 5" to surface..no kneeling either, just stoop, stab, and grab! 4 hrs of hunting got a mess like this.

Hope y'all get out and find something interesting!...clad shooting of this magnitude is fun, fast and furious...one of those things if conditions are right make for a total body workout!

Wow Mud you sure cleaned up on that hunt with a few bonuses to boot...Always nice to find a half and to add a ring just makes it a great day.
I just got permission on private property where a horse race track was in 1921 and later became a motor raceway...the land own showed me an old areial photo and the grandstands were on his property....so I will report back after the hunt 2morro...KCH

Alright KCH! You know your gonna find some great stuff in a place like that!:clapping:

$20 IN CLAD ON ONE HUNT IS INSANE. Ive had a few clad hunts over $15 but man that last $5 has gotta be a killer.. you quarter ratio is very high..I do the same thing at sports feilds that are loaded, cherry pick quarters a dimes...I also do the stab and grab..its fastest way I know but gets a little rough on the fingers and wrist after a few hours...

You are right there BH! I stayed about an hour longer than I should have and am feeling it now! :stretcher:

Way to go, Mud!! Hard to think about you still having piles of snow! I have never stopped mowing my yard(s)! I think winter was on a Thursday this year. Almost 80 degrees right now. I have picked up two 3 cent pieces and two shield nickels recently. One of the nickels is pretty worn, but, the other three coins are Fine +. I'll post some pictures as soon as I have time to get some taken!!
Good show on the clad.......almost $20, that's great! The most I have ever got was about $12 and I worked my bohonkus off for that!

Good going mud !

I get the odd $20 - $30 dollar patch, but they are getting hard to find now as I've hit most of them in my area. Might have to take a trip (2 hours one way) to see if I can find some more like that.

I well remember your posts, BH! :clapping:

Me and Roland were new at this forum, and you were one of the posters that got me fired up about just exactly what a guy an do in a day...not only on huge clad, but you knock the hell out of old silver and gold too and have done it consistently several years back to back..!
.
Like you said though, after a few years, its tough to find a big money patch nearby, so a fellow either has to move, or try a different aspect of this sport..like gold hunting or something...still, banging huge clad sure is FUN!.

Like Bootyhound said, if a guy wants to get fast on retrieval, a screwdriver is the tool for this kind of work!
Mud

wow mud you went ballistic with your F70! Nice clean up on the clad. Mr. Mud we have a clean up at the local park, please bring your screwdriver and your F70....

Nice "work" there Mud! I'm waiting for my turn with a day like that!

HH y'all.

Frank

My hat's off to you Mud. :please: Even when I had clad fever it would take me over month to come up with numbers like those.:clapping:

Yep the screwdriver works great. I sometimes also use a needle nose plyer to extract clad. I seem to be having Better luck in sports folds rather than tot lots

What a haul,

WTG Makes my 84 cent on yesterdays hunt look bad.I would love to learn the screw driver thingy. Is it hard to learn? HH
