Melted coins dig

I had a most unusual dig this morning at a city park. In the sand/slide area I started getting a lot of blobs that turned out to be coins that had been in a fire. About half of these were affected.

There are lots of quarters & a lot of pennies. Here's a close up of some typical ones.

I then put a torch to the blobs and they separate easily with what looks to be aluminum or pot metal. They dont clean up well so I guess I cannot use them.

They were all within 8-10 feet of a slide, all around it. Maybe someone had a fire and gave the kids the money to play with. Who knows. I ended up with 166 coins & a matching set of ear rings. steve in so az

I knew it got HOT down there but I never imagined that hot! :hot:
Poor kids! I bet the when they go down the slide they fry like bacon!:lmfao:
Interesting finds!

Yep! Most metals melt if hot enough....and that sure must have been a hot fire....I guess someone's house or a store with a cash register burned down! You can always put them in your scrap metal to sell that way! :) Betty
