Memorial Day (belated)

These photos are from May 24th. I got to celebrate my birthday a day early with a long handle sand scoop my wife gave me. My favorite and only beach in the area was being torn up for improvements so I only got to use the scoop for about an hour for a haul of 31 cents. I moved on to a soccer field/park where I had much better luck. My back is finally healing enough from the herniated disc that I can metal detect for 3 to 4 hours without major problems.

[attachment 267415 prkher01b.jpg] Appropriate pin for Memorial Day, an old shotgun shell, Panamanian coin, soccer pin, and a .925/14K combo opal and cut blue stones ring.

[attachment 267416 prkher01a.jpg] Not a very good photo but closeup of opal and cut blue stones on either side, probably aquamarine.

Very nice hunt. Love the ring and glad your able to hunt. Hope you heal up quick, take care. Joe

...and he SCORES! That's a good lookin' ring, congrats! Pretty sweet that you got a new scoop, too. I've been scratching my head over how to tackle the few creeks and intermittent streams around here, they're pretty rocky. Anyhow, sounds like you had a great week!

Beauty ring..Nice work there!:clapping: I've been reading all the HS local soccer tournament schedules and planning my hunts accordingly...it really helps getting to the right locations the morning after..now that schools are out, theres plenty of hunting to do.

Is your avitar a 53 Lincoln? I had a 54 Lincoln Capri as a kid. Power everything, right down to the radio antena. I had it as a back up to a 63 hypo galaxy. Wish I had both of them right now. The Capri was black with yellow and black interior. Absolutely a pretty car.

I love those old Lincoln/Merc/Fords too. I had a '71 Custom 500 that would pass everything but a gas station. I wish I still had it except that it had so many rust holes I'm not sure what kept it together. It's a wonder I didn't get carbon monoxide poisoning. The avatar is a 1955 Capri. I wish I had that especially a ragtop.

The funny thing is, I found the ring on a sledding slope on the way back to the car after about four hours on the soccer field.

Mr. Pop Top, it read high 70s, I think 77-78, so I assumed it would be a zinc penny. Nice surprise. I have found 14k gold rings, sterling silver rings, and a Tiffany and Co. heavy silver bracelet that all rang up in the zinc penny range, so I dig all pennies.

Thanks, Joe. My back has been doing pretty good after the last few hunts, but I went out for a couple of hours yesterday and my back is killing me today. I'm not sure what I did that was any different. I'm going to retire in a year and plan on metal detecting almost daily, if my back will hold up.
