Mercury dime!

Metal detected a park yesterday that I thought was a fairly 'modern' park. Apart from a silver ring and bunches of modern clad coins from previous hunts, I did not have any expectations of more than that.
Anyway, I spoke to an old-timer (must have been 70 plus) and he informed me he used to play on this park when he was a kid and it could be 80 to 100 years old!!. A little later, I got a silver signal 38-39 and I dug this mercury 1939 silver dime from 8 inches deep. Not worth much and I normally wouldn't have posted this coin but I was surprised at the condition of it. I just used soapy water to clean it by the way. I hope to dig many more silvers from this park!!!

Thanks for your replies everyone! I think this dime was in the ground before I was born (d.o.b1951) because of it's pristine condition! like I said, it's only worth around $3 but isn't it fun to find a coin this old and in this condition?!! H.H. everyone

Looks to be in near perfect condition, congratulations on the find. What's interesting is that I dug a 1943 merc yesterday about 8" deep that was just as clean as yours, looked like it was minted just weeks ago.

I love those mercury dimes! It's the perfect dime.

Hey looks like a proof coin....

The few facial scratches show it was in circulation though. Nice!!!!!
