Met up with a new hunting buddy today...

I've been in email contact with 2 guys from around here (from the tnet forum). This morning I got together with Tom LI and we hit the park where I got the 2 Mercs yesterday.
We hit an area near where he and Ricardo NYC had been hitting silver of late (the other guy I've been emailing). To my surprise, I hit the first Rosie at about 1"... I couldn't believe it. However, Tom said none of the silver they'd hit had been deep at all. Tom scored shortly after with a Rosie and I countered with a Merc that was just below the surface (can this be happening? :) ). While Tom hit the "new" area, I hit the area that he and Ricardo had been "pounding". I called over Tom to tell him they missed one :) another Rosie. All in all a great day and nice to meet up with a new friend :) Look forward to meeting up with him again and meeting up with Ricardo. I think I'll introduce them both to winter hunting at the beach :)

Do you think maybe there was a club seeded hunt there at one time? Most clubs plant rosies and mercs that shallow.
Either way great finds! :)

I have been to Lake Michigan on Jan 4th one year! I didn't hunt the water though. I did hunt an inland lake in mid March right after the ice melted one year. I did use neoprene waders though! But the most extreme is the water hunters in our club who cut the ice away so they could water hunt!

I've hunted there about 3 times and this morning, Tom let me know that this particular park is not on the permit list as "allowable" under the NYC MD permit list. Didn't even know that :) But they don't hassle with you there as long as you're not brandishing a shovel. :)

I've been there in February in the middle of a Nor'easter. Gale force winds (tough to swing the detector against) and wind chills well below zero. Give me a break... it's the only place I can hunt where the ground isn't frozen

Nice finds Joe! Man, I sure wish I could get out soon. I ran into an old digging buddy and we talked about going to an old farm that has given up some Cival War relics soon so maybe, just maybe I can work it out. But until then, I can always look at what you guys are finding.
