Metal Composition of Ring

I found this ring a few days ago. It has a large "PL" inside but no other marks. When I first dug it I thought it was platinum but after looking online for platinum marks the common ones are "Pt", "Plat" or "Platinum." I found nothing authoritative indicating that "PL" meant platinum. Does anyone know if this is a mark for platinum or what "PL" might mean? The only other thing I could think of is maybe a designer's initials. Thanks

Pl could be platinum, found a few that were, marked that way. Depends on what part of the world they came from.Grubstake

Thanks, Grubstake. I found it in the Salt Lake City area. There are a lot of immigrants and visitors from all over the world here so I guess the ring could have come from anywhere.

I found a gold ring this week in a park marked "417".
Googled it and it is a 10K ring. Some makers show it by purity.
In other words, my ring has 417 parts out of 1000 that is pure gold.

Had it had a jewel such as a diamond it would have been followed
for instance if it had a half carat diamond (PT .50) or PT 1/2

Platinum would be nice. IT could also be plated? Looks a lot like chrome plated.

Is it magnetic? What doe your detector think?
