Metal Detecting "Blankets"

Does anyone have experience or awareness of gold prospecting with these? They are $$$$ and I'm just doing a little research on them.
Thanks, Len

Iknow some one who uses one. The terrain has to be kinda free of brush and tree and big rocks. Where would you use it?

Hobo - has this person had success, if so - for gold or ? Would use on flat terrain with minimal brush/rocks and other obstacles.

They would more useful ( if they really work well ) in flat open terrain for relics or maybe meteorites, like in Kansas wheat stubble fields.
Any gold fields in the western U.S. are to steep, rugged, and littered with big rocks, trees, brush, etc. for a blanket to be user friendly of efficient.
HH Ed in co. Might work in gold fields in oz. Any of our down under cousins have any knowledge of this?
