I would appreciate any and all suggestions on where to camp and where to detect safely with permission. any time between October and April. Any officials I need to ask permission from. Just trying to plan a vacation for me and my dog.
Thanks
Rodney

I've been out there quite a bit , but only know of one camp ground , but I cant remember what town its in , if I remember right its in the middle section of the islands , as far as detecting , I think detecting is allowed around the Kitty Hawk area beaches , I think south of there is considered a National Seashore ,so no detecting allowed on the beaches , sorry I couldn't be of more help but this is about all I know and not really 100% sure of this , might be best to contact the rangers office out that way , good luck

Thanks very much for your reply. How would I contact or where would I contact the ranges to ask questions?

Find a map showing the National Seashore and you will see where you are not allowed to detect. The Majority of Hatteras Island is in the National Seashore. Just more Government intrusion into a harmless hobby.

Thanks. I am considering going up there in late October, Camping in a camper and detecting the beach area.

Any good places that you could suggest to detect either along the shore or inland up there in October/ November? :twodetecting:

I got some more info for you from a local in the area , They say you can hunt from Jeanettes Pier in Nags head , south to the National seashore , if you'd like hit me up , i'm going to be in hatteras from oct. 12th to the20th.
