Tesoro DeLeon

One would have to assume that you mean a pre-set ground balance? I had a blast with a $100 Tesoro Silver.

Models with Auto-Tracking can qualify as "turn-on-and-go" but I take your post to refer to those models that have an internally preset (trimmer) or engineered (in circuitry, not changeable) Ground Balance, right?

If that's the question, then I can list several, starting with the ones that can provide the most all-purpose performance, that have served me well:

White's IDX Pro
White's Classic III SL
White's Classic ID
Tesoro Silver Sabre

I agree with the others listed but would like to add the Minelab Musky Advantage. Now it does have a manual ground balance but to date after using for four or five years, it I opt for the FIXED on GB setting and in my moderate mineralized soil have dug pennies at 8"+ with nearly full descrimination. Just turn it on and hunt. Very good machine... IMOH!!
If you note my machines I have decided to keep, listed below, all are very simple to GB. Even the newest Xterra 705 has tracking which auto ground balances for you as you detect.

if you`re starting out and don`t want to spend a fortune i`d highly recommend a Garrett 250 which to all extensive purposes is a turn on and go job, alot of the more expensive machines claim to be switch on and go , but in reality (E-Trac etc) need alot of fine tuning and some are downright frightening if you`re atall technophobic, i take it that it`s for use in Australia so you may want to consider some of the good nugget hunters by Tesoro and Minelab, your ground mineralization is very different to much of the world so i`d imagine that around 14-17.5khz is a good frequency for AUS as opposed to 6.2-8 khz for the UK the Garrett is probably better for UK use but will be fine for parks and dry sand beach tops, good luck and enjoy:ukflag: you`ll find the best selection of after market coils for Minelab (coiltek made in aus and detech) and i believe Minelab are an AUS make, order their catalogue online (quite a range !) cheers:thumbup:
