I stumbled upon an episode of this on Discovery Channel. It was actually pretty good, and yes, they use detectors and find big meteorites. Pretty cool.

Looks like there's a new episode on the Science Channel Wednesday night (8p central time for me).

Yeah it's a pretty cool show. Heck in fact, I may have found a few small one's and didn't know it. The key is to keep a magnet on you, if the rock is magnetized, its more of a sign that it could be a metorite. One of their favorite detectors they use is the Fisher CZ-70 Pro. It's actually my backup rig, but I hate how it loves 10 inch deep iron nails. So the funny thing is while I was watching the show I learned that metorites are made up of a huge amount of iron and nickel. Figures why they would use the CZ-70, that thing loves nickels and iron!
