Micro-Jewelry Hunting

CladDog

Has anyone used the high frequency coil specifically to go micro-jewlery (gold less than 1 gram in weight) hunting in areas like the dry sand beach?

If so, have you been pleased witht he result?

These high freq small coil set ups are a killer for one piece of jewelry that up till the recent past was one of the most difficult to find. I'm talking about 'charms'. There are thousands of them laying in the ground both silver and gold. From about 1890 through the 1970's the charm bracelet was the single most popular jewelry item. They peaked post war from the late 40's through the mid 60's. It was a must have for every girl. Charms broke off the bracelets easily, but the are small, often thin flat shapes. Very difficult for VLF machines to find unless they are an inch or two or less under the coil. The higher freq small coils used now should find these easily. Keep an eye and ear out for them.

Not as a specific target--- and to far from the beach to be considered a seasoned beach hunter. But every time I do dry sand And some damp) I end up w earring backs, some tiny earring posts, tiny charms, clasps (from chains) and tiny bits of aluminum (BB size).
705 w 10x5 DD coil

also every bit of foil and small pieces of tabs, split shot etc. Some of these mentiond targets are 6"+.

Had similar finds in the dirt. I can only compare w the analogs I've used. 705 will certainly find what you are looking for.

Note-once you hear a tiny target-turn off the auto track (or it will probably disappear). These type targets are the only reason I bring a PP with me to the beach.

As said...not a specific target, but i do hunt the beach on a regular basis with the 5x10 HF DD coil, always looking for those small gold targets.....At the beach I check 99% of targets...even the quick repeaters that sound like a pull tab on the surface, could be a 10k 1g ring like the Alabama ring. Most of the small silver charms and rings TID like a dime.
