So I'm reading a book about mid American states in the late 1800's & early 1900's. And this startling fact pops up !
All those long gone villages, towns, etc. - are you all checking into this ? It seems like there should be one for every 10-20 miles in most states. Go to a library, find the books on them, lay out a plan. Ask the librarian for help finding info. With so many sites waiting for you it seems like one cannot go wrong.
We have been to probably 50-60 sites in Az & N M and I can tell you there's nothing quite like being the one to find the goodies. Think old foundations, dump sites, roads along & into places, things out of place, etc. And if a site is in a well known book on ghost towns don't go there. No doubt other hunters have been there before you. Find the not well known ones. Feel free to write me and ask anything about this.
Good luck, Steve in so az

Many fields have had different buildings on the land and by getting permission and finding where houses and even old stores have been these could be good detecting areas! Our farm had one old house in the back upper field that we lived in when I was very young and then we had the old house which I grew up in and then dad built the new house up above the road, so our farm had 3 houses and several old farm buildings! Ya never know what you might find....Would be nice to find a cache or some caches of older hidden coins and etc......so eat your hearts out, do research and go get them when you can and with someone else as a hunting buddy and for protection in case something happens, as there are old cisterns and wells on the old farmsteads which could be dangerous! Ma would have loved to go to these places but didn't have the money or anyone to go with most of the time.....too dangerous for women alone and sometimes for a man...sooooo be careful and happy hunting along with good luck and God's many blessings for terrific finds! Amen!
