Mike Hillis and His F5 Opinions

Just when I think I am ready to down-size my arsenal of detectors, I get the bug to try another. I haven't been able to hunt as often as I like, but after reading Mike's many posts about the F5, I decided to give it a shot. I had used an Omega in the past and really liked the detector. What caught my eye with the F5 was the knobs and the informative display along with Mike's glowing opinion. I have had it for about a month now and I have found it to be a real nice performer. It is extremely accurate and in terms of usable depth(accurate ID), I dig hardly any trash. I don't think I get the depth of the Omega, but it is close. I have very mineralized ground and I am using the stock concentric coil so maybe if I tried the 11 inch dd I might increase my depth. I am hesitant to spend the money on the bigger dd coil because the stock coil is accurate with it's ID. When I bought the F5 I was a bit leary of the two 9 volt batteries, but with over twenty hours on the factory supplied set, it is down just one bar so I am guessing a good set of batteries might go 40 hours or so. I have found about 20 wheat pennies, two silver coins, two Indians, and lots of small junk jewelery. All in all, I have to agree with Mike on his opinion of the F5.

R.L.-----Thanks for your report on the F-5-----Yours and Mikes opinions are always highly valued & respected.------------Del

Hi!

I also have a Fisher F5. Now I do not use it, because I bought the SE Pro. I keep it as a secondary detector. Anyway, the memories of work with F5 - are the most positive. Lots of coins, and especially jewelry. We must also mention that it is better made than the F2 or F4 detector. I also confirm the opinion of Mike :detecting: .
