Mike's Recent Contest............

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to Mike for the contest and prize - and THANK YOU to Bryce for choosing me to get the prize!!!! I was REALLY SURPRISED!!!! :surprised: Mike, you are such a wonderful guy! Thoughtful, and such a giver! And Bryce, you're just a big ol' SWEETHEART!

The prize Mike sent was an Alabama Governor George C. Wallace token. In his note he said he had been saving this one for me because he knows how much I like items from my state. Mike, you couldn't have picked a better prize! When I'm teaching, I ALWAYS have my 11th graders do an in-depth report on old George C.!!! And they are required to include tons of info and pictures of him when they do the Civil Rights project I always assign. He was a nasty!, Nasty!, NASTY!, human being right up until the last few years of his life. It is my understanding that he finally received Christ as his Savior, and asked forgiveness from many of the people he had wronged in his earlier years. I, of course, remember him well since he was governor just about the entire time I was growing up, and then again a few years later. Between George and his wife, they pretty much owned Alabama during the 60's, early and mid 70's, and again in the early 80's. I have read MANY books about him, and believe it or not, one of the best books I've EVER read was one about his life - Politics of Rage. I know... I'm a nerdy teacher. I have a collection of George Wallace political items for the purpose of sharing them with my students. I have some Wallace tokens, but I did NOT have this particular one!!!! I love it!

Not that you were interested in ANY of that, but I was just trying to explain WHY it was a perfect prize!

Thanks again, Mike and Bryce!!!

you are more than welcome...and I could tell from reading your posts that you were under a tremendous amount of stress.
I am there a lot myself so I know firsthand what it feels like to feel like the walls are closing in.

When I lost my Mom in October...I felt like I was not going to get through it. My Dad is an hour away...my brother is 2 hours away...and my daughter is 4 hours away in college. Had it not been for prayer...and the friends on this forum....I could have imploded.
My only outlet was prayer...pm's from people...and having metal detecting to take the stress away even if only for a short while.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about things...but I have trained myself to cope as best as I can. Just yesterday I had to attend our family estate auction of my mother's and my grandparents property and belongings.
For lack of a better word...it sucked...NO other word comes to mind.
True...my brother and I got whatever belongings we wanted beforehand...but somehow my mom's very first doll and the wooden cradle it was in....ended up finding it's way into the auction. Nothing like bidding for your own mothers first prized possesion:confused: I DID get it back by the way:thumbup:

My dad is close to having to start kidney dialysis...so we don't have any idea how is future will be. So that has been taking it's toll as well.

Also in a few months...I will have to go through the whole estate auction thing again. My dad can't take care of all the property at our house...the house I was raised in...so he wants to auction it and the property + belongings before long as well.
Even though my brother and I obviously have our own homes...it will be very tough to see all of it go.

Anyway...sorry for rambling...but my point to all of this is that sometimes small things like me choosing you for Mike's prize...can help pick a person up.
I'm thankful I was given the opportunity...and even more thankful to know Mike picked the perfect prize.

Congrats to you, Liza, for being chosen and to Bryce for choosing you, and to Mike for the prize so befitting you and your state! :clapping: God Bless! Betty

Glad to add to your collection, and glad you like it so much!
God bless.

Mike
