Military buckle...ID Help?

Hey folks. Well I strayed away from my honey hole today and tried somewhere new. This place is in the middle of the woods, with trees 4 feet wide. Undisturbed to say the least. Anyhow, I picked up this musketball at 8" deep, and walked another 5 feet and got a nice hit. I found this belt buckle at 6" deep. Can someone tell me how old it is!? I've seen buckles like this that go back quite a ways, but I also know this design was used well after. Not sure if the musketball and buckle being so close together is just a huge coincidence or not!? Can anyone help!?

1812 snake buckle. bet u if you stayed in this area that u will be rewarded with more

that is what I was hoping to hear, and I thought that's what it was when I found it, however, everytime I guess something to be war of 1812, I;m wrong *haha* Didn't want any disappointment. I was shooting for a war of 1812 button this year, but a buckle certainly works for me!! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Wess, I think your buckle dates a litle after 1812, but I guess they may have had them back that far... I think for the most part they dated more towards the middle of the 1800's.. there used to be a buckle page out there somewhere that showed british buckle dates, but I cant seem to find it any more
