I’m looking for a lead on a battery pack for the original sovereign. Can only find a pack for the XS which looks like it might works but I want to be sure. Also wondering if any sovereign coil will be compatible. Any info is appreciated. Would post a classified but haven’t been active in years and it seems I no longer have the permission to do so. Minelab “The Sovereign” battery information needed

The Battery pack is the same on the original and the XS as they are plug in pack, but on the XS2 and the XS2a had the drop in pack which I myself didnt like as the XS was the best, the drop in was held in with the battery cover and seem to work itself lose . all Sovereigns coils are compatible with any Sovereign and no other detector coil will work on the Sovereigns. It maybe hard to find a used coil as most of us that have a coil want to keep them, but you could check the auction site is no one on the forums has any they want to sell. The original Sovereign and the XS had a white coil called the Coinsearch that was the best to learn the Sovereign, but was not waterproof, the XS2 the the other are waterproof .
The rechargeable battery pack has 10 rechargeable in the pack and if using the AA batteries you can use also in a a pack, but cant really use the rechargeable in the alkaline pack, some have tried it and seen they don't last as long . That's why the the rechargeable uses 10 batteries that is 1.2 volts apiece to make the 12 volts needed to run the Sovereign. I picked up a used Sovereign and it has a battery pack of 3 of the 3.7 batteries to make the pack, but never used it yet, but do notice when it is on and testing is not as stable as it should be, but that can be in the coil as the cable been replaced as it was cracking up, so I maybe I will be looking for a coil too.
Good luck with your Sovereign as they are one great detectors when you spend the time to know them.

If you have a Minelab dealer you could contact them, or you can still find replacements on the internet (feeBay).
That looks like the one that came on the uses XS I bought, but wonder if it will supply the right amount of voltage as it show 11.1 volts as the Sovereign takes 12 volts, not a lot of difference, but those that tried the 1.2 volt rechargeable in the alkaline packs and had 9.6 volts gave a problem as when they were used for a while the low battery alert would sound off. Then again the 11.1 is closer then the 9.6 that 8 1.2 volts would produce so it may not give a problem other than not last as long. I did get in a pack with 12. something volts, but it is too thick to put in the battery box., so if I use it I would go with a hip mount with the battery in the hip mount bag.

Good observation, I know these come from China so they're not OEM. 11.1 VDC, yeah, I'd rather see over 13 V after a charge. I know they used to sell the Sovereign Alkaline Battery Holders, as I still use one, but in looking to buy a replacement, they're almost impossible to find. The only other option is to take apart an old battery pack and rebuild it if you can find rechargeable batteries with the right diameter and length.
This replacement for the later Sovereigns like my GT are 12V and would probably be no problem.

Anyway, the battery came, seems to function fine with the battery gets good depth and is stable. I ordered the battery on ebay (the one puctured above for the xs), the only problem is the connector is different than the detector, the center pin it too large on the battery so i had to remove the connector in the detector and replace it with the right size. The battery didnt come with a charger so im not sure what kind of charger to use on it if anyone has any insight it would be appreciated.

These are hard to find, but I found this one for sale in the UK, but might be on feeBay as well. Most ML dealers are probably long out of stock, but you might check.

To give you an idea of the Voltage and milliamps, I included some pics of my Sovereign GT charger, and the power source, smart charger that I've used to charge the batteries on the Excal.
13.8 - 15 VDC, usually around 500 mA or less (100mA). Charging time can definitely vary.
