Minelab 11" Pro Coil Mod

ihuntrelics!

New member
I came up with an idea on modifying my coil for the rough terrain that I hunt in. No more getting hung on all that stubble, stalks, weeds, sticks, stumps, rocks and etc. etc.... I used a bass drum head and cut it to fit between my coil and coil cover. I had to trim the inside lip of the coil cover for it to fit properly. It should last a while and I can replace it if need be. I know some of you that have trouble pinpointing will say stuff like you can't see the ground to do your pinpointing or you need to use the x braces to help you pinpoint but for me it'll be no problem. Also the drum head plastic is very light with hardly even enough weight to register more than before the mod so even Bob should be proud of me. HH!!

Here's all those holes before the mod.

Here's the bottom after the mod.

:clapping::detecting::thumbup: Very very good job !

I KNEW you'd figure something out Scott!--Those holes across the center piece must have been hard for you to get cut out for & fit properly. Hope Minelab or SOMEBODY makes a solid cover for you relic hunters.---Del

You can see the coil cover on the right with the plastic laying inside. HH!!

This has probably been covered but I haven't found tit - where can you get one of those coils?

Awesome idea you came up with. They do make clear drum heads as well for those that need to see the ground.

Just lurking and made my first post.

...Buy an extra coil cover and modify it by epoxying the drum head to the bottom? This way there will be no uneven surfaces and the coil will glide on a totally smooth bottom.
