Minelab E-TRAC for hunting gold nuggets?

Raptor129

New member
I am interested in purchasing the Minelab E-TRAC, but would like to know if it can be used to hunt for natural gold nuggets. I hunt mostly coins and relics now, but would like to take this unit occasionally to Arizona and California to nugget hunt.

Does anyone have experience with the E-TRAC in highly mineralized soil? Does it have enough discrimination and ground balancing to work well in these soils?

Thank you for your comments and suggestions

I have used the E-trac in conjuction with the 4000 and the 4500, a particular area I prospect has a lot of junk in it. What I have done is located the target with the 4500 then sprayed with marking paint usually a flouro green or orange after several located targets I switch to the e-trac and check the target, so far yet not one has turned into a gold nugget. I dont believe it punches all that deep in highly mineralized soils, like nothing compared to the GP series detectors anyway. I can sell you a 3500, or 4000, email me at pashaz@bigpond.net.au if you are interested.

In fact the only gold so far has been a 9ct solid gold bangle about 7 grams in weight that I pulled of the Tannum Sands Beach in Qld Australia

cheers
