i just got the xcal1000 used it yesterday works fine got it home and put in to charge (about 10 hours) reconnected the battery to the xcal torn in on and all i get is a click in the headphones and nothing checked the charger to c it there is juice (there is none )checked the battery it shows about 7V charge and does not charge any more than that ....could the charger that is blown mess up the cells in my battery?

minelab excalibur 1000 battery problem

the charger conected to the battery without being plugged in will discharge the battery, so i would asume the dodgy charger would do the same, if your going to get a new charger don't get the minelab one, go for the one at onlybatterypacks, it will do the same job in about 2 hours and is cheaper

I just got a makita drill, the one with the lithium batteries and its got a fan in the charger that comes on when a battery is inserted and stays on until the charge is compete, pretty neat idea. now Im thinking keeping batteries from getting hot is really a good idea. Im no electronics guy so I personally dont know which is true but Im gonna stick with keeping the batteries and charger as cool as possible.
does the onlybatterypack charger make batteries hot or have some sort of fan?
by the way I have an excal II and use the stock charger and even after a full charge from a drained battery, the battery only gets warm, not hot. but it does take a long time to charge it.
