Minelab Explorer XS tips

rexy

New member
Hello everyone,
I just traded my AT Gold for a Explorer XS.
I have been using it for about 2 weeks and have taken it to about 6 hunts so far. I was wondering if anyone has any useful tips on settings and tone. I have reviewed these sites so far.

I was wondering If anyone had any further tips about using it in parks and on beaches. anything will be helpful

The best way is to tell us your settings first then we can see what if anything you may have wrong if anything.
Also do you use too much discrimination ?

The settings I use is a completely open screen. Sens. as high as it can go while remaining stable(around 28-30). Semi auto off. Deep On, fast off. Noise option is usually at a higher number when looking for coins, 8-11, I've heard this is best for silver. Sound and tone at 10, gain at 7. Thresh hold at 10.

That is about it, I usually just listen in on the tones.

Thank you

I dont normally use a clear screen unless on land then its a bit of discrim at the top left for nails.
My settings for my Explorer 11 are ,
Sens = 22 to 28 Auto unless a quiet site , Volume = 10 MAX , Gain = 9 , Threshold tone or Pitch on the ET = 1 , Variability = 8 , Limits = 10 , Sounds = Conduct unless Ferrous on Iron sites, Response = Normal tones , Recovery = Deep ON , Noise = 2 for coins or higher than 6 for Gold .
Noise channel changes if working near a machine than interferes .

Interesting that is more gain then I use - I'll have to try it when we get some rain.

The best tip I can give is use the presets until you get the hang of it...Simply change the threshold to your liking and sensitivity to low 20's manually and once you get the hang of the unit you can make your tweaks....Another tip take a nickel, dime and quarter and run them under the coil till the audio is engrained in your brain...
Don't get fancy but be practical and the deep silver will come...
