Hello, i jusy bought a new safari and am haveing a lot of trouble understanding the descrimination on it .Is ther a book out there rather than the owerners manual that will help me ? i had a fisher 1265.
thanks for any help

rorie,

Andy Sabish's book "Mastering the Quattro" should help you some. Generally, however, I have found that the stock discrimination settings work fairly well in all situations on the Safari. The only change I make when detecting is blocking out the +40 value in all modes.

In my limited experience +40 is often an aluminum can. But it has also been a silver quarter or half. I have found that if you get a +40 and lift the coil up about 6-8" and the tone doesn't get weaker it's almost always an aluminum can. If the tone changes or weakens it is often a coin. But I haven't had that much experience except for some experimentation in my coin garden and a couple of quarters I found in a club hunt. Onus
